Rory McLauchlan

I am trying to capture the essence and character of a particular place through the spontaneous use of colour, line and shape to create new forms.”

Scottish artist Rory McLauchlan, lives and works in Ayrshire. His connection to western Scotland inspires the majority of his subject matter. Chiefly he takes his inspiration from the Ayrshire landscape, where he portrays the wildness of his surroundings. His Still Life paintings too have a brilliant understanding of colour and form, whilst retaining a naive quality.
